Each XGS Series appliance features a dual-processor design comprising a high-performance multi-core x86 CPU and an Xstream Flow processor; the latter intelligently accelerates applications by offloading trusted, security-verified traffic to the FastPath.
This architecture maintains the flexibility to scale protection while delivering performance boosts, unencumbered by the limitations inherent in certain legacy platform designs.
For instance, because the Xstream Flow processor is programmable, Sophos can expand offloading capabilities through future software releases, delivering additional performance improvements without requiring hardware changes.
